Obviously a regular pastime for middle class families and one therefore that needs no explanation.
1 The ballad of Dick Turpin
During this period I am planning a tour of Leicester’s leg ends with the show ‘Daniel Lambert’s Trousers’ and our Dick lived in Fenny Drayton for a while. Actually I think that’s Warwickshire but its damned close.
2 Back of my head
To this day I rewrite the lyrics of this song ‘cos they are never quite right. Nevertheless it’s a good song and its an attempt to ditch all the nonsense that rides around in my head much of the time.
3 60’s man
It’s a rock n roller using bits of 2 or 3 of some great 60’s songs
4 What am I to do?
A real tear jerker of a song about the loss of something very special that somehow lost its way really badly.
This is about a boat that used to take the coal up on the Aire and Caulder and I traced its history. Its still in Stanley Ferry up near to Leeds and is now owned by a charity offering services to people with head injuries.
6 Telling me what to do
A rocker of a song rejecting all that school conditioning
7 Not so lucky
A song for Lucky [Robbie’s cat] that got run over
8 I’m affiliated
Another song rejecting the life of being a slave to the corporation
I mentioned this earlier. It's the third in the Irish famine trilogy
10 Song for the old boy
A song for my Dad based on our family experiences and his elusive character.
11 Lady Jane
This is a sort of basse danse. Another guitar instrumental but now orchestrated and soon to be used in the Lady Jane Experience that is taking place soon at Bradgate Park.
12 The Brain
As I write this,I’d say the Brain is my favourite song
13 You Babe for me
A song about the break-
